Theft of and out of motor vehicles still a problem in Primrose – say police

Be careful where you park your vehicle.

Valuables left in parked vehicles continue to be a concern for the Primrose police.

“We are once again appealing to members of the community to be careful where they park their vehicles and what is left visible when the vehicle is parked,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“Do not leave valuable items visible in your vehicle as they can draw the attention of criminals, encourage them to break into your vehicle and steal from it.

“Items like laptops, cellphones and tools should be stored in the vehicle’s boot if they cannot be removed.”

Police also discourage residents from parking their vehicles around the shops and businesses for extended periods of time.

In addition, police have asked residents to refrain from parking their vehicles on the pavement, especially overnight.

“You are inviting the criminals to target your vehicle when you park it on the pavement,” said Maoma.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious activities in the area to the Primrose Police Station on 011 842 0522 or 071 675 6864/5/6/7/8/9.
