Germiston celebrate victory

Germiston City Cricket Club continued their Easterns Cricket League campaign with a match against Tsakane Cricket Club.

The Germiston City Cricket Club continued their Easterns Cricket League campaign last weekend.

The club hosted Tsakane Cricket Club in their Saturday Fifth League fixture.

The home team won the toss and elected to bat first.

Germiston was able to knock up 189 runs, with one wicket in hand, in their allotted overs.

The match’s top batsmen were Gavin Ferreira with 46 runs and Jan van Wyk with 44 runs.

The visitors then took to the crease and were bowled out for 179 runs, giving Germiston a 12-run victory.

The day’s top bowlers were Dwayne Parel with three wickets in five overs for 26 runs and Kelvin Mabasela with two wickets in three overs for 20 runs.

This Sunday the club will travel to Reiger Park to take on Reiger Park Cricket Club in the Sunday Presidents League.
