Germiston’s private schools ready for the new academic year

Assumption Convent School and St Catherine’s School started the new academic year on a high.

The corridors of Assumption Convent School and St Catherine’s School in Germiston were filled with smiling new faces as the schools opened for the new academic year.

“Though our first day of school was last Wednesday it was all systems go in the week leading up to it,” explained principal of Assumption Convent, Neville Workman.

“Among other activities, we hosted a rowing camp, a swimming camp, a tennis camp and a maths and science camp.”

The school also hosted an orientation day for their Grade Eight learners last Tuesday to show them the ins-and-outs of the school before their first official day.

“We are ready for the year ahead with classes in full swing,” said Workman.

The school officially welcomed 53 Grade Eight girls and 35 Grade One girls.

“With the new intake, each new learner is unique and she brings her own special gifts and talents to the school.

“We are excited about 2019,” Workman said.
