Assumption learners shine in 2018 IEB exams

Assumption Convent School celebrates a successful year with a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2018 IEB matric examinations.

The IEB matric results were released at midnight today (Thursday).

Many private school learners waited in anticipation to find out if all their hard work through the year had paid off and if they had passed the year.

The girls of Assumption Convent School were no different.

The school celebrated another year with a 100 per cent pass rate, and 97 distinctions in total, which equates to 2.2 distinctions per pupil.

Forty-four matric candidates sat for the year’s gruelling year-end examinations, with 100 per cent of the learners achieving a university pass.

Keeyanda Tshipamba was the school’s top achiever, and did not only achieve nine distinctions, for Afrikaans, English, mathematics, advanced programme mathematics, computer applications technology (CAT), history, physical science, life sciences and life orientation, but also earned a place on the IEB’s prestigious ‘Commendable List’ with 93 per cent for English and 95 per cent for mathematics.

Tshipamba also placed in the IEB top one per cent for CAT, English, life orientation and life sciences.

“We’re very proud of all our matrics; well done, girls,” said principal of Assumption Convent, Neville Workman.

The school’s other top achievers included:

• Emilie Godwin, who achieved eight distinctions in Afrikaans, English, advanced programme English, mathematics, life sciences, history, computer applications technology (CAT) and life orientation.

• Natasha Kasambira, who achieved seven distinctions in Afrikaans, English, mathematics, physical science, life science, computer applications technology (CAT) and life orientation.

• Kiana van der Schyff, who achieved six distinctions in Afrikaans, English, dramatic arts, music, mathematics and life orientation.

• Gabriella Horn, who achieved five distinctions in English, dramatic arts, life sciences, mathematics and life orientation.

• Pragna Singh, who achieved five distinctions in English, mathematics, life sciences, physical science and life orientation.

• Kayla Smith, who achieved five distinctions in Afrikaans, English, CAT, business studies and life orientation.

“Congratulations to all our 2018 matriculants on a fine set of results,” said Workman proudly.

“It has been a great privilege having you at our school, and our very best wishes go with you as you now embark on the next exciting stage in your studies and future careers.

“We will follow your progress and achievements with great interest.”
