Giving musos the perfect platform

Siyabonga Sotshakase Dlamini is set to help undiscovered musicians and entertainers showcase their talents.

Founder of Soulid Rhythms Entertainment Siyabonga Sotshakase Dlamini, also known as Sotsha Dee, is bringing an entertaining workshop to Katlehong this December.

Twenty-two-year-old Siyabonga is a music producer, DJ and sound engineering student.

The ambitious young talent founded his media and entertainment company after identifying a need for collaboration among young creatives.

“I developed the love and passion for entertainment and music in primary school, but started following my passion in high school,” said Siyabonga.

“I started DJing around Katlehong, mostly at birthday parties and other occasions.”

The former Mpilisweni Secondary School learner is adamant that the South African entertainment industry is in need of fresh ideas and new faces and his company is here to fill that space.

“A lot of the well-established companies aren’t giving up-and-coming artists real chances in showcasing what they can offer, instead they are reusing the same people.

“Because of that fact, we need to work together as up-and-coming artists to challenge the exclusion shown by these companies.”

Under Soulid Rhythms Entertainment, Siyabonga will host LOCKDOWN, a social event and workshop aimed at uplifting up-and-coming musicians and media enthusiasts.

“The idea behind this event is to provide up-and-coming artists (DJs, musicians and dancers) from across Gauteng a platform on which they can showcase their talents,” said Siyabonga.

“We plan to give presentations on boosting your self-confidence as an entertainer, motivational talks and relevant information concerning various careers in the media industry.

“The event will also serve as a networking session, bringing artists together and building new relationships.

“Perhaps we’ll see artists in future creating good music together because of their interaction at LOCKDOWN.”

LOCKDOWN will take place on December 1 at Esporweni Car Wash situated at 299 Goba Section, Katlehong.

“I will be funding this event with help from my friends with no sponsors.

“General and VIP tickets will be on sale at the door,” he added.
