Employee opens common assault case against employer

Following an alleged attack by his employer, a Wadeville worker has sought the services of the Elsburg SAPS.

A worker from a Wadeville-based company recently opened a case of common assault against his employer at the Elsburg Police Station.

The victim opened the case after alleging the owner of the company which employs him found him in the company truck waiting to fill up with diesel at a filling station on Black Reef Road, Wadeville.

“The victim claimed he was in a queue waiting for the vehicle in front of him to drive off when his boss banged on the driver’s door,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg police.

“He said he was asked why he was sitting in the truck to which he responded, ‘I am waiting for the truck in front to finish putting in diesel so I can follow after’, right before he was insulted.”

According to Phooko, the victim further alleged the confrontation did not only involve insults but he was assaulted too.

“He alleged his boss hit him with his fists on his upper body,” said Phooko.

“The company was visited by the police several times since the incident took place for further investigations.

“However, they were informed the owner was not at work.

“The investigation is still continuing in this matter.”
