A combined effort by the EMPD Public Order Policing Task Team and Germiston SAPS Crime Intelligence members resulted in the arrest of four foreign nationals recently.
They were found in possession of computers, printers, passports, identification documents, bank cards, cellphones, temporary permit asylum documents and business documents.
The arrests and seizure of the equipment and documentation took place at about 3.30pm at Graceland Flats, in Graceland, in Germiston.
“Preliminary investigations pointed to the suspects being involved in dating, bidding and money deposit scams among their numerous criminal activities,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

“Their modus operandi included advertising goods via the internet and once the money has been paid they would disappear.”
The confiscated equipment, gadgets and documents were booked in at the Elsburg Police Station.
The arrested suspects, who are between the ages of 26 and 29, were detained at the Elsburg Police Station on charges of fraud and for not having valid documentation to be in the country.
The Hawks (Commercial Crimes) have taken over the dockets.
