Man nabbed for attempted murder

Katlehong police continue to investigate a case of attempted murder and kidnapping.

While on patrol in Ramokonopi West, recently, Katlehong police officers received a report that a man had locked himself and his girlfriend in a room and was holding her captive.

The officers raced to the scene and forced the door open.

“A 20-year-old woman was found lying unconscious on the floor with a 20-year-old man standing next to her,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe, Katlehong police’s corporate communications official.

“Officers noticed a two-litre bottle, allegedly containing sorghum beer containing poison.”

An ambulance was called to the scene and the woman was rushed to hospital, where she was admitted.

The man was arrested and charged with attempted murder and kidnapping.

“While in custody, the suspect began complaining about stomach pains and was taken to a local clinic for treatment.

“After receiving treatment, he was taken back to the Katlehong Police Station,” said Ndobe.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court and police continue to investigate the motives behind the crime.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Loyiso Dunjwa applauded the work done by the officers.
