Community enjoy a day in the sun
Community members showed their support and enjoyed the warm weather at Builders Warehouse and AK Events Spring Flea Market and potjiekos competition.
Builders Warehouse in Lambton and Amanda van Straaten, the events coordinator of AK Events, welcomed the community of Germiston to their fun-filled Spring Flea Market and potjiekos competition, last Saturday.
Music and delicious smells filled the air as community members moved between a variety of different stalls, all set up outside Builders Warehouse.

“The fun-filled day included performances by local talent Wilma-Dee, Cowboy, Renier, Willem and DJ Gerhard who are always willing to sing at our events,” said Amanda.
Though the event offered residents a chance to get out and enjoy the warm weather, it also acted as a fund-raiser and collection point for Care Bear Gauteng Safe House for Abandoned and Abused Babies and Toddlers, in Elsburg.
The home, established in 2016, can be found at 20 Joubert Street and is managed by Zenobia Venter and offers a place of safety to abused, orphaned and neglected children.

The community was encouraged to donate baby products which were handed over to Care Bear Gauteng.
Thunder MMA was credited with making the largest donation on the day.
“We cannot thank them enough,” said Amanda.
The event was a great success and enjoyed by all who attended.
