Primrose SAPS detective celebrates successful conviction

Primrose police’s Det-Sgt Lesiba Konyana was instrumental in the arrest and conviction of Ishmael Rambauli, who was found guilty of two counts of murder.

Primrose police’s Det-Sgt Lesiba Konyana began work on a double murder case in 2016.

“A mother and daughter (6) were shot and killed in the Makause informal settlement on November 28, 2016,” Konyana explained.

“Ishmael Rambauli, then 38 years old, was arrested for the crime.

“According to the suspect, he had shot the pair as he suspected his wife was cheating on him.”

Through hard-work and dedication, Konyana helped to secure the conviction of Rambauli who was handed down a 60 years jail term sentence.

“Rambauli was found guilty on two counts of murder in the Johannesburg High Court, and sentenced to 60 years direct imprisonment last Friday,” said Konyana.

When asked what kept him dedicated to this nearly two-year investigation, Konyana, who has been a member of the SAPS for 15 years, said: “I enjoy my job and am dedicated to what I do.”

“I previously worked in Katlehong in the Crime Prevention Unit for 10 years before moving to Primrose Police Station in 2013.”
