A world of colour at family fun day

Community members from Lambton and surrounding areas celebrated spring at LKCPF’s Family Fun Day.

Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF (LKCPF) recently hosted their second annual Family Fun Day and just as anticipated, it’s becoming a community favourite.

The good relationship between the LKCPF, SAPS, EMPD and DEMS made provision for a safe and secure event.

An array of food stalls, games and activities were featured at the park situated on First Street in Lambton to celebrate spring.

Boasting a bigger attendance than last year’s inaugural event, the organisers were gleeful at the potential growth this could mean for future events.

“We have a pleasing relationship with law enforcement, and we are grateful for their assistance, especially the support shown by Brig Nkensani Lemba, the station commander of the Germiston police,” said Renee Germishuisen, chairperson of the LKCPF.

“Our primary focus is the elderly and youth in our community, and to see them show us this much support proves this is not just another fun day, it’s a great display of community involvement.”

Fourteen children from Epworth Children’s Village volunteered to clean up the park, while sponsorships from Mike’s Kitchen and Pick n Pay added flavour to food stalls.

The dunk-tank, which was the highlight of last year’s fun day, made a return and was again popular, although this year it shared equal attention with the National Airway Corporation’s helicopter.

The children’s cycle, fun walks and colour run also added a bright aura to the fun day.

Heavenly Flowers Private School put together an entertaining Mr and Miss LKCPF pageant, much to everyone’s enjoyment.

In their respective age groups, children partaking in the pageant took to the stage flaunting cuteness, unconventional dance moves and even a stint of bodybuilding in the form of flexing biceps was showcased.

The CPF patrollers were on duty and worked with the SAPS and EMPD to maintain the peace.

Renee thanked the community, vendors and all sponsors and organisers for their contributions in ensuring the success of the fun day.

She also urged community members to join the CPF and help blow the whistle on crime.
