Donate blood and save a life – encourages school

Heavenly Flowers encourages the community to donate blood to the South African National Blood Service (SANBS).

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) aims to collect 3 000 units of blood per day to ensure a safe and sufficient blood supply in the health care system.

The collection of blood is a cause close to the hearts of many of the staff of Heavenly Flowers, who hosted a blood drive at the SANBS donation centre in Lambton just over a year ago.

Since the blood drive, the team has continued to visit the centre, every two months, to donate blood.

Heavenly Flowers owner Heidi Searle takes great pride in giving blood to help others.

“I have created a lift club that will pick up any Heavenly Flowers staff member who would like to donate blood,” she said.

In keeping with tradition, eight staff members made the trip to donate blood last Thursday.

“I believe it takes ordinary people with caring hearts to become everyday superheroes in the community,” said Heidi.

The school encourages the community to get involved in this worthy cause.

“It will only take about an hour of your time to make a donation that could save someone’s life.

“What better way to bless someone than with the gift of life?” said Heidi.
