Children encouraged to be disciplined and respectful during Primrose police’s visit

School visit promotes a safe and disciplined learning environment.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station, members of the Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Youth Desk and a representative from the Primrose SAPS Victim Empowerment Centre recently visited East Rand Academy of Excellence in Primrose.

The visit was aimed at promoting a safe learning environment.

“During the visit, we encouraged the learners to study hard in order to achieve their goals,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

During her presentation, Chantel Bergman, public relations officer for the youth desk, told the learners to refrain from bullying each other.

“Bullying can lead to serious crimes and to avoid this, bullying must be reported,” she said.

Hennie Steyn, one of the chaplains who run the Primrose SAPS Victim Empowerment Centre, also spoke to the children during the visit, promoting respect and discipline.

“If learners wish to progress with their education they must respect themselves as it is difficult to respect someone if you do not respect yourself first,” he said.

He also encouraged the leaners to respect their teachers as they will help them to reach their goals.

The school’s principal, Agatha Kloppers, thanked the visitors for coming to the school.
