Twenty-eight nabbed during weekend operations

Katlehong police share weekend arrest statistics.

The Katlehong police were hard at work last weekend, arresting 28 suspects for various offences.

The arrests were made during several different operations held between August 24 and 26, by officers from the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of the EMPD.

Charges included common assault, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, domestic violence, malicious damage to property, crimen injuria, murder, kidnapping, shoplifting, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drugs (dagga and nyaope).

“Roadblocks were also conducted on major roads in the area during which motorists disobeying the rules of the road were given fines,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, communications officer for the Katlehong police.

Katlehong SAPS’ acting station commander Nomthembeki Mthembu commended the officers for their efforts.

“I am highly impressed with the weekend operations which have yielded such positive results,” she said.

“I hope the operations will continue to be as, if not more, successful.”

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
