Twenty-one suspects nabbed in weekend operations

The Katlehong police recorded 21 arrests during several weekend operations.

The Katlehong police arrested 21 suspects between July 20 and 22.

This is according to the latest arrest statistics released by the Katlehong Police Station.

The suspects were arrested during different stop-and-search operations conducted by the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station.

The accused were arrested for various offences.

Charges included:

Common assault: 5

Possession of drugs (including dagga): 5

Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3

Driving under the influence of alcohol: 3

Public indecency: 2

Malicious damage to property: 1

Shoplifting: 1

Warrant of arrest: 1

Katlehong police acting station commander Col Nomthandeki Mthembu thanked everyone who contributed to the successful arrests.

Mthembu further encouraged the officers to continue their hard work.

All of the suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
