Karatekas shine at nationals

Several members of the Mark Strydom SA JKA Karate Centre recently competed in a national championship held at the Standard Bank Stadium in Johannesburg.

Eleven members of the Mark Strydom SA JKA Karate Centre who recently competed in the SA JKA National Championships.

The event, which was held at the Standard Bank Stadium in Johannesburg, saw 3 000 entrants taking part.

Strydom’s team, who ranges from yellow to black belts, competed in both kata and kumite and walked away with three gold medals and one bronze medal.

Strydom and member Andrew Richardt will represent the SA JKA at the African Cup Championships on September 1.
