Soup kitchen warms up Elsburg

Imbali Foundation partnered with the Elsburg CPF in their recent soup kitchen in Elsburg.

Through their soup kitchen on Thursday evening in Elsburg, the Imbali Foundation ensured that those in the queue would have an even warmer winter’s night by donating blankets to each one.

Imbali’s outreach programme supports 92 families of four to five people per family and 68 single-parent households of three or more family members.

This adds up to over 550 people that the foundation supports.

The foundation currently spends an estimated R139 800 on provisions and is appealing to the community to assist them with donations, be they in the form of gift vouchers, non-perishable food, clothing or financial assistance.

“We have created a sanctuary for discarded and abandoned babies.

“At the moment we have 13 children who have been placed into our care by the Department of Social Development.

“In addition, we operate as a care centre for the homeless, unemployed, abused women and small children, providing a secure, stimulating and nurturing environment while, feeding, clothing, educating and ensuring medically healthy babies, toddlers and women,” said Joseph Bachfischer, founder of Imbali Foundation.

Imbali works with other charities in Germiston such as Woord in Aksie – Spreading the Gospel, Sasonah Lodge which provides care for people with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, Care Bear Gauteng, an organisation for abandoned babies, and Samaritaan Huis, which offers food, education and a soup kitchen for the needy.

Based on previous interruptions and safety concerns, Imbali partnered with the Elsburg CPF on Thursday to ensure a safe and secure soup kitchen.
