Tebbutts Academy prepares for ISKA World Championships

Tebbutts' kickboxing champs head to US Open ISKA World Championships.

Tebbutts Mixed Martial Arts Academy, based in Lambton, enjoyed a prosperous visit to the coast when they racked up 46 medals in the KwaZulu-Natal Jogie’s Tournament earlier this month.

“Returning to the city with 28 gold medals, 15 silver and three bronze medals proved the dedication and hard work the club shows for the sport,” said Kanchu Alex Tebbutt.

In April the club also participated in the South African Kickboxing Association Championships and two of their members, Tyron Stevens and Juhann Duarte, did well in point fighting and continuous fighting in the junior boys light u-37kg division.

“Stevens achieved first place in both point fighting and continuous fighting, while Duarte took second place in points fighting and third place in continuous fighting,” he said.

Although the club are pleased with their achievements so far, they are still hard at work, training for the upcoming National Mixed Martial Arts ISKA Championships to be held in Cape Town in September.

The pressure, however, is on Stevens and fellow club member Christina Pretorius as they are leaving for the United States of America on June 29 to take part in the US Open ISKA World Championships.

“We wish them luck and they must bring back the titles,” said Tebbutt.
