“Officers had to wade into the water to recover the body, which is believed to have been in the area decomposing for two weeks or more.

“The head, which was severed, was found a few metres away from the body,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe, communications officer for the Katlehong police.

Katlehong police find decomposing body along the Moleleki Extention Two riverside.

Police were unable to confirm whether the corpse was male or female.

“The only thing that could be clearly identified was a blue City of Ekurhuleni T-shirt,” said Ndobe.

The Katlehong police are, therefore, appealing to anyone who may have information on the body or whose loved one has recently gone missing to contact the Katlehong Police Station on 011 617 3686.
