Happiness blooms at Elsburg school

Happy Hearts Academy/Akademie is expanding with the purchase of second premises.

There is an air of excitement at Happy Hearts Academy/Akademie in Elsburg.

This is due to the exciting changes soon to take place at the school when their new additional premises are ready for learning.

Tanya Potgieter, the owner of the academy, said the school has been in Maritz Street, Elsburg, for six years.

Now with the growth at the school, there are 206 learners currently, the need for additional premises became imperative.

“The new school will accommodate the senior phase – the Grade RR, Grade R and aftercare children, while the current school will cater for the junior phase – the babies and children up to the age of four years old,” Tanya said.

“We are growing all the time so this will allow us to accommodate more children.”

Tanya bought the new premises on February 26 and building commenced straight away.

“We will be ready to open on May 7.

“The new school situated in van Heerden Street, opposite Laerskool Elsburg, is going to be extremely pretty and we can’t wait to move in,” said Tanya.

“It has been a great process.”

The school is going to have two principals and two vice-principals to take care of matters at both premises.

“With the move, we will also be able to create a proper sick room where children who are feeling unwell can be taken care of properly,” Tanya said.

Tanya added that she had been thinking about purchasing an additional property for the last two years.

“I was battling to find a property and then decided that I would leave it in God’s hands and he helped me locate this property,” she said.

The school has never had a huge demand for babies but Tanya said that since the middle of last year they have had a huge demand for small babies to be enrolled in the school.

“It is so exciting as we will now have the space to grow all our classes,” Tanya said.

“We have been creating a lot of anticipation which is awesome and communicating with our parents via our Facebook page detailing all the work going on.

“As a dual medium school, we are hoping to grow our Afrikaans classes and can’t wait for the changes which will soon be here.”
