Children must be alert when walking to and from school

Police warn children to be careful and to heed safety tips.

The new school term is in full swing and the SAPS are warning school children, to be alert and aware at all times.

This comes after a number of cases have been reported, in which children have been robbed of their important belongings while walking to or from school.

Here are a few safety tips for children:

  • Hide your cellphones and other important belongings, at all times.
  • Be aware of crime hotspots in your area.
  • Don’t talk to strangers.
  • Children must be aware of their surroundings at all times and be on the alert for – and suspicious of criminals’ activities.
