A win away from the top of the log

The Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club’s Promotion League campaign in the Easterns Cricket League is drawing to a close, with one match to go after their win against CBC Cricket Club.

The Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club are creeping closer to topping the Promotion League log, with one match to go.

The club faced CBC Cricket Club in their penultimate match of the season, at the Elsburg Eagles Main Oval in Dinwiddie.

The Eagles won the toss and sent the visitors into bat first as the pitch was still wet and favoured the bowlers.

CBC was only able to knock up a total of 69 runs, all out, in their allotted 50 overs.

The day’s top bowlers were Billy Millar, with four wickets for 22 runs in 20 overs and Garreth Hann, with four wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs.

The Eagles then had their time at the crease and were able to reach and beat their target of 73 runs with the loss of only one wicket.

Giving the Eagles a nine-wicket victory.

Top batsmen of the match were Millar with 29 runs not out and Kobus Black with 22 runs not out.

The club completed their Executive League campaign, winning their league, and placed fourth in the Saturday Second League.

The club will play the United Cricket Club in their final Promotion League match on April 8, at the Elsburg Eagles Main Oval in Dinwiddie.
