Woman ‘assaulted for answering husband’s phone’

Woman claims she was slapped by her husband after answering his cellphone.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 32-year-old man for domestic violence after he allegedly slapped his wife.

The arrest was made after the victim opened a case at the Primrose Police Station.

She told officers that she was at home with her husband when his cellphone rang.

“She decided to answer the phone as she saw that her husband’s brother was calling,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“However, when she answered the phone a woman demanded to speak to her husband.”

She was still on the phone when her husband entered the room.

“He alleged demanded to know who had given her permission to answer his phone,” Maome said.

He reportedly slapped her hard with an open hand, injuring her.

He was arrested and held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

“We are appealing to our community to seek help when they encounter challenges in their relationships and not to take drastic steps,” said Maome.
