Successful first meeting for East Rand Veterans Boxing Association
The newly elected East Rand Veterans Boxing Association committee held their first meeting on February 13.
The East Rand Veterans Boxing Association (ERVBA) elected a new committee on February 8 and held their first meeting last Tuesday at the Primrose Bowling Club to set out their plans for the year.
Jaap van Nieuwenhuizen, a former professional boxer and referee with Boxing South Africa, and now chairperson of the ERVBA said, “We are looking forward to getting a lot of media coverage and community involvement this year.”
The new committee consists of former world champion Jan Bergman who is the vice chairperson, Liza Perrin is the new secretary, Hennie Jordaan is the new treasurer and Ashley Fourie is the new public relations officer.
“As the saying goes, ‘a new broom sweeps clean’.
“As part of the new committee we hope to do a great job and represent the club well,” Fourie said.
