New app to help curb bullying and abuse

STOPit! Stopping bullies and abusers in their tracks.

Anonymous reporting and incident management system STOPit has landed on SA shores, and local licence holder Blankpage Publishing is rolling it out en masse.

Developed in the USA in 2014 and following two years of rapid global deployment, South African schools will be pleased to know that the STOPit system is now available for immediate local roll-out.

With 7 000 schools and three million users across the USA, Canada, Singapore, Japan, and Australia showing a proven track record of reducing and even eliminating bullying and abuse, STOPit is set to make its mark in SA as well.

“We are extremely excited and proud to be able to bring a much-needed solution to SA’s schools, where the scourge of bullying and abuse seems to be at an all-time high,” said Blankpage managing director Warren Hickinbotham.

The system facilitates anonymous two-way communication, via an app, between a pupil and an administrator at a school.

The administrator captures all relevant information into web-based case management system called DOCUMENTit, where cases are tagged, shared, investigated and managed.

Powerful analytics are then used to get a clear picture of the issues, and protocols can then be put in place to further combat incidents of all types.

“The system is extremely affordable to make adoption and roll-out a no-brainer for schools who want to protect their pupils and ensure they don’t end up in the press for the wrong reasons,” said Hickinbotham.

“Parents should insist that their children’s school run something like STOPit as a non-negotiable in order to ensure their child’s safety.”

Interested schools should contact Warren Hickinbotham at warrenh@blankpage.co.za or on 087 095 3224.
