Uber driver victim of hijacking and attempted murder

Uber driver stabbed and hijacked by thugs.

The Elsburg SAPS recently responded to a late night call detailing that an Uber driver had been stabbed and hijacked on Raven Street in Elspark.

Const Erin Palmer rushed to the scene and upon arrival, a police van was already on the scene with officers assisting the victim.

The victim was found on the side of the road stabbed and covered in blood.

He was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

According to reports, there were two perpetrators but when the victim was asked if he could describe the perpetrators he could only describe one.

The blood splattered area where the victim was found covered in blood after being stabbed and hijacked in Elspark.

The description fitted that of a known perpetrator and Palmer and her team knew of possible places to begin their search.

Whilst on their search they met up with the fire department, who informed them of a vehicle accident.

Palmer and her team followed the fire department to the Rondebult Road off-ramp bridge to the N17 highway where they found a vehicle burning.

The vehicle’s registration number matched that of the hijacked vehicle.

The suspect had fled the scene which prompted Palmer and her team to continue their search.

This Uber vehicle which was hijacked recently was found set alight on the Rondebult off-ramp bridge to the N17.

They arrived at an empty house on Kingfisher Avenue in Elspark, and with assistance from Const Justice Masemola and Const Xolani Hasane, the SAPS raided the house and back room where they found the suspect wearing shorts covered in blood splatter.

The 45-year-old suspect was also found in possession of two bags of crystal meth weighing 2.49 grams.

In further searching of the house and garden, the victim’s cellphone and wallet were recovered.

The suspect was detained at the Elsburg Police Station where all blood evidence was booked in.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on January 26 and he remains in custody.
