You don’t usually hear anyone talking about having a “thank you party” for their friends and neighbours, and even if you do, you least expect them to host it on the date of their wedding anniversary.

But Driekie Smith and her husband Christo aren’t just anyone.

Driekie Smith and husband Christo are in good health after the grievous attack. They held a special 41st wedding anniversary party last Saturday to thank all those who helped and supported them after the attack.

Zanthe van Greuning and her mother Trudie are close family friends of the Smiths and were happy to be celebrating the lives of their friends, as well as their 41 years of marriage.
