‘Big school’ commences at Germiston South

Germiston South Primary School ushered in new Grade One learners without a hitch.

Another school year has begun, and all children experiencing the “big school” for the first time at Germiston South Primary School, were tied up with emotion mixed with excitement and anxiety.

As they were placed in their respective classes and waved goodbye to their parents reality kicked in.

For some, excitement triumphed over anxiety, for others, anxiety escalated and teachers had to assure them that all would be well while wiping the tears away.

The principal of the school, Lanette Fouché was pleased with the operations set in place to have a productive first day.

“Everything is running smoothly this year.

“We have parents paying for book fees on the other side, learners being placed in classes this side (in the hall) and some parents made it to orientation so they know the procedure for them and their children.”

Fouché also spoke about how proud she was to see her teachers being on the ball on such an auspicious day.

“Thank you GCN for coming to visit us at our school, we appreciate it.

“We hope to have a successful year, and we wish you the same,” said Fouché.
