Man arrested for theft out of a motor vehicle

Man apprehended for theft out of a motor vehicle in Primrose, while three remain at large.

When a man recently returned to his company vehicle, which he had parked in Rietfontein Road in Primrose for two hours, he discovered that several items were missing.

“The man told police, when opening a case at the Primrose Police Station, that tool boxes containing black punch bags, carpenter’s chisels, a fine lock set, spare batteries, a silver carry chest, an angle grinder, a cordless drill, a silver torch, a titanium drill-bit set and several other items had been taken,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

CCTV footage showed four suspects removing the items from the vehicle.

“The complainant recognised the four men,” Maome said.

After following several leads officers traced one of the four suspects.

The 23-year-old was arrested and charged with theft out of a motor vehicle.

He was taken to the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

“A manhunt has been launched to find the remaining three suspects,” said Maome.
