Project to aid young golfers

Ten promising young golfers benefit from SA Open Legacy Project.

The Ekurhuleni SA Open Legacy Project is giving ten young golfers a mentorship opportunity to perfect their swings on the golf course for the next three years.

The young golfers will now be part of the Glendower Golf Club Development Programme set to begin in January, next year.

The promising stars will be accorded full junior membership of the club and will participate in tournaments on behalf of the club under the mentorship of Gavan Levenson and Loyiso Barnes from Ekurhuleni Golf Union.

“We are hoping that some of these children will eventually be able to enroll at the University of Pretoria’s High Performance Centre and develop successful golfing careers,” said Ekurhuleni’s director of sports and recreation, Atwell Sijadu.

Furthermore, the SA Open Legacy Project will include support in terms of counselling, mentorship and the provision of transport and refreshments for the children when they need to travel to competitions and tours.
