Siyabonga Children’s Home helps Spur celebrate their birthday

Spur is celebrating their 50th birthday this month, and to make their birthday more memorable each branch was encouraged to spread the joy to the community.

October is a month full of celebrations for Spur outlets countrywide, as it is their 50th birthday.

To make their birthday more memorable each Spur was encouraged to spread the birthday cheer in their community.

Copper Canyon Spur in Lambton got in on the action last Monday by treating the children from the Siyabonga Children’s Home in Norton Small Farms to a special fun-filled evening.

The home cares for children who have been removed from their parents for various reasons.

“While looking for someone we could treat as part of our birthday celebrations, a representative from the Siyabonga Children’s Home walked into our restaurant to book a birthday party,” explained marketing manager Caren Smit.

“Right there and then I realised that God had sent this woman to me for a purpose.”

Quintyn Styer, Jaqueline Lubbe, Beverley Snyders and Richard Snyders from Siyabonga Children’s Home admire the beautifully decorated cake.

Together staff and management of the Spur planned and executed an unforgettable party complete with succulent burgers, cold drinks, ice cream and of course a slice of birthday cake.

Zuki Jansen is credited with donating the cake.

The children spent the evening playing in the restaurant’s play area and were entertained by Copper Canyon Spur’s clown Rocky.

“Before heading home each child was given a party pack full of treats they could enjoy at home,” said Smit.

The celebrations were enjoyed by all involved.

Copper Canyon Spur waiter Thobela McGregor and marketing manager Caren Smit join in the fun.
