Forty suspects nabbed in a week

The Germiston police arrest 40 suspects, according to latest arrest statistics.

The Germiston police are continuing their efforts to curb crime in the Germiston CBD and their surrounding precinct.

Recently the station recorded 40 arrests in a week through a number of operations held in the area.

Charges included:

Rape: 1

Driving under the influence of alcohol: 3

Shoplifting: 1

Possession of a stolen motor vehicle: 2

Possession of house break-in implements: 2

Interference with police duties: 1

Armed robbery: 1

Dealing in liquor without a licence: 1

Possession of dagga: 10

Child kidnapping: 1

Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 2

Common assault: 2

Possession of explosives: 9

Fraud: 1

Theft: 2

Attempted theft: 1

All the accused were taken to the Germiston Police Station where they were charged and later appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
