Cancer awareness campaign heads to Germiston

The metro is holding a cancer awareness campaign in Dukathole this Friday.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in driving awareness, the metro will host its cancer awareness campaign at the Dukathole sports grounds on Friday (October 27).

The event is scheduled to take place between 8am and 4pm at the sports grounds, situated in Strachen Street, next to the Dukathole Hostel.

Community members will be educated on the causes and different types of cancer and the steps to take once cancer has touched their lives.

“Residents, both male and female, are invited to take advantage of the services rendered during the campaign and be a part of the drive that shows cancer the door,” said the Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The metro’s health practitioners will offer health screening services which include pap smears and breast and prostate cancer screenings.
