Young tennis hopeful home due to injury

“I will be back even stronger and I’m really lucky to have all the support from my family, friends and my coach. For now, I’m focusing on my music.”

Dinwiddie Tennis Club member and one of Alberton and the South’s top tennis prospects is back in South Africa after honing his skills in Portugal.

Jordan Morais (18) is back home nursing a sprained ligament after months of training in Portugal to climb the tennis ranks.

“Financially, it was better to come back, rest and heal up, because it’s really expensive over there, but I am planning on going back to continue my progress,” said Morais.

The talented young man was part of a tennis club in Portugal, where he played in several tournaments, making it to quarter- and semi-finals, before the injury took him out of action.

“I will come back even stronger and I’m really lucky to have all the support from my family, friends and my coach.

“For now, I’m focusing on my music,” said Morais, who is also an avid guitarist in a band.

“I hope to get Jordan some sponsorships and financial aid to be able to continue his rise to greatness because he has the potential to be an international tennis champion.

“I train many children, but Jordan is truly special – the perfect combination of talent and dedication,” said Jordan’s coach from the Dinwiddie Tennis Club, Etienne de Wet.
