Match a learning curve for Mustangs

The Mustangs went down in a tough match against the South Central Rabbitohs.

In a tough, physical match the Mustangs Rugby League Club couldn’t make it count at their home grounds, the Elspark Sports Grounds, on Saturday.

The home team went down to the South Central Rabbitohs 22-54.

The first half saw the Mustangs losing ground to the strong Rabbitohs side and they didn’t capitalise on a number of scoring opportunities.

However, they started the second half with a bang scoring a try within the first few minutes.

They seemed the stronger team in the second half but unfortunately, it was too late to change the scoreline into a winning one.

The try scorers from the Mustangs were Francois van Dyk, Damian Diedericks and Michael Beukes.

“It was a very tough game and we could not round-off a few tries.

“The Mustangs played well considering that most of the players are very new to league rugby,” said Mustangs coach Gerrit Groenewald.

Monique Nothnagel, chairman of the club said she was proud of the players.

“The match was a great learning experience for them,” she said.
