Drifting mania set to take over Carnival City

Carnival City plays host to the SupaDrift Series 06 Finals.

Drifting fans can brace themselves for a humdinger of a showdown when the hotly contested SupaDrift Series comes to a roaring crescendo with the Series 06 Finals at Carnival City on September 29 and 30.

The 2017 championship has seen stiff competition and it all culminates during this last weekend battle.

“This finale will set the tone for next season, with close tandems and insane driving leading up to the final prize-giving,” said Mikey Skelton, XS Promotions marketing director and co-founder of the SupaDrift Series.

Drivers like Achilles Tyres’ sponsored Jim McFarlane will certainly bring the challenge to the rest of the talented field.

Challenger, Paolo Gouveia, a Prepsol sponsored driver, has much to prove in this final round for 2017.

Gouveia said he has massive respect for his competitors and knows he has to make it count on the blacktop on competition day.

Gavin Puren, who stands a chance to be on the podium after the final event, said: “Nobody can afford to rest.

“It’s the most competitive drift season yet and anything can happen; the current track layouts are so challenging and, therefore, we will have to be on point to impress the judges and keep the competition at bay.”

“When it comes to ‘motortainment’ and burning tyres, this is it,” said series partner, Achilles Tyres’ Johanetta Greeff.

“We love to demonstrate what we are capable of when subjected to extreme situations as a tyre company; and with drifting, there are similar counts of extreme tyre slaying and abuse to show-off our brand’s rubber capacities.

“It’s a motorsport with serious entertainment value.”

Carnival City’s marketing manager Michelle Smith said the SupaDrift Series has tremendous spectator value and this culminating event promises all out, skidding action.

“Be there for action packed ‘motortainment’ at its very best,” she said.
