Man allegedly beaten with golf club

Primrose police apprehend a 21-year-old man for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A man claimed that he was recently attacked and beaten by a 21-year-old man in the Makause informal settlement.

The complainant told officers at the Primrose Police Station that while in the informal settlement he had an altercation with an elderly man after he stepped on his toes.

“The two were able to find a peaceful resolution to the argument but the victim alleged that the accused approached him and begun to accuse him of not being respectful to his elders,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The accused then allegedly beat the complainant with a golf club several times on the head.

“The victim explained that he attempted to defend himself by holding his hands over his head and ran towards the community clinic while the accused chased and hit him,” Maome said.
