Local security company assists in arrest

One man nabbed for possession of stolen property while two escape.

A 29-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police, last Tuesday, for possession of stolen property.

The arrest was made at the Kraft Road off-ramp to the N12 highway with the help of a local security company.

“While personnel from a local security company were patrolling the Marlands area they noticed three men crossing the road with a wheelbarrow full of goods.

“The men were behaving suspiciously and when the patrollers attempted to stop them they abandoned the wheelbarrow and ran,” explained the communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The security officers chased after the men and cornered one of the three. He was detained and the Primrose police.

“Upon inspection of the wheelbarrow police found earrings, a bar fridge and plugs.

“The items are estimated to be valued at R5 000,” said Maome.

The suspect was unable to prove ownership of the goods and was arrested and taken to the Primrose police station.

He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.

“A manhunt has been launched to track down the remaining two suspects,” Maome said.
