The metro officially launched 36 new ambulances and seven primary response vehicles worth a total of R34-million, last Saturday.
The event was held at the Leon Ferreira Fire Station in Boksburg.
“These new additions will intensify quality rescue and emergency medical services requirements within the metro,” said William Ntaldi, district manager media liaison for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS).

The executive mayor of Ekurhuleni, Clr Mzwandile Masina officially presented the vehicles to the hundreds of community members who attended the function and to the community of the metro at large.
After the official reception of the keys from the service provider, who fitted out the fleet and readied it for action, and an inspection, done by the executive mayor, red lights and sirens blared throughout the station in celebration.
