Police net 16 suspects

The Katelhong police arrested 16 suspects in a recent 24-hour stop-and-search operation.

In a continued effort to curb crime in Katlehong, members of the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit recently held a 24-hour stop-and-search operation.

During the operation, which saw police visit several areas within Katlehong, 16 suspects were arrested.

The accused were charged with a number of different crimes.

Crimes included common assault, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, intimidation and possession of dagga.

All of the arrested suspects were taken to the Katlehong police station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

The accused have since appeared, with their cases being postponed for various reasons.
