Local hospital educates young children

Children from Fairyland Crèche spent a morning a Life Roseacres Hospital.

The corridors at the Life Roseacres Hospital were filled with the sounds of awestruck children, last Tuesday.

The youngsters from Fairyland Crèche, located in Witfield, Boksburg, were treated to a very special visit to the hospital.

They were there to learn all about the various wards and what happens at a hospital.

The excited children were welcomed by Karen Landsberg, the hospital’s marketing co-ordinator and Sr Doreen Seopa, the hospital’s quality manager.

They were then taken on a tour of the casualty unit, the pharmacy, the surgical ward, theatre and outside the paediatric ward.

The reason for having each ward/unit was explained to them.

Once the group had completed their tour they gathered in the staff canteen and Dr Hassina Ebrahim, a paediatrician at the hospital, gave them an interesting talk on what a doctor does.

It was then time for a bit of fun and Sr Doreen taught them about the importance of hand washing in an interactive fashion.

The children enjoyed their time at the hospital immensely and left filled with new knowledge.
