Elsburg SAPS members seize dagga, arrest two

Two people were arrested in separate incidents by the Elsburg police, last Tuesday.

Members of the Elsburg Crime Combating Unit were out conducting crime prevention duties in their policing area, last Tuesday, when they noticed a suspicious-looking man in Elspark.

The man was walking in Raven Street, towards Hoërskool Elspark, at about 11.30am, carrying a black school bag.

“They stopped and searched him and discovered 50 packets of dagga inside the school bag.

“The suspect alleged that his wife is pregnant and is using the dagga as medicine,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

The 27-year-old man was arrested and detained at the Elsburg Police Station.

On the same day, while conducting visibility patrols in Plein Street in Elsburg, the officers stopped a number of suspicious-looking people and searched them.
