Making music for the world
FFortune is slowly but steadily making a name for himself in the African music industry.
He started his hip hop recording career in 2010 and since then Mahlatse Ramatladi (21) aka FFortune has been growing from strength to strength.
The young Primrose resident hails from Tzaneen in Limpopo and moved to Germiston in February, this year.
“I moved here as I like the atmosphere; it is not loud like Johannesburg,” he said.
FFortune creates music full-time and was greatly influenced by his uncle Fuza Ramatladi, a reggae artist.
“He taught me to play guitar when I was eight years old but at that time I didn’t think I was good at it.
“It was only in 2009 when I started writing songs that I decided this was the path for me.”
The young man loves African music, especially West African music, and his songs go down well in parts of Africa.
“When you hear of people in Sierra Leone and Ghana vibing to your music it makes you proud,” he said.
Along with making his own music, FFortune has started his own record label called 7Sixty5 Entertainment and he already has some signed artists.

Six strings can tell many stories
He has released an EP entitled Fortumatics featuring six songs and just released a single called #baby fill up.
He writes all his own songs and his friend DJ Zanzi deejays for him at gigs.
“I have played a lot of gigs and my next one is due to take place on August 12 at the Red Apple Club in Newtown,” he said.
He is also set to work on a collaboration with Chris Kele from Malawi soon.
Kele has chosen a number of artists from different countries and music genres to work with him.
FFortune gave the following advice to aspiring musicians.
“Don’t be discouraged if record labels do not sign you.
“They may not understand your sound – just upload your music on the internet and let people enjoy it.”
FFortune said he wishes his late mother Josephine was here so she could see how well he is doing.
“She always supported me and would be proud of me,” he said.
His siblings Lebo (12) and Teans (17) are extremely proud of him and Lebo told him she is a fan.
