After the huge success of the Ahgie-festival last year and the community’s support, Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston will be hosting a festival again this year.
This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the school.
The Ahgie-festival will have something for young and old alike and takes place on the school’s sports fields from 8am to 4pm.
The school thanks Jacques van Wyk, the owner of Pick n Pay Lambton and Hazel Park, for the huge contribution he has made towards the festival to ensure its success.
Dinky Dolly Nursery School and Heavenly Flowers Private School will keep the youngsters occupied with a programme of events which will include the Mr and Miss Heavenly Flowers competition, a jumping castle, performances by the youngsters and much more.

There are a number of age categories to suit children from three months old to 12 years old.
Primary and high school learners can take part in fun activities and a soccer competition.

There will be helicopter flips, a flea market with various stalls (including jewellery, plants, ornaments, wooden crafts, bangles and creative arts), different food stalls (including curry and rice, boerewors rolls, rib burgers, pancakes, pizza, cupcakes, sweets and cold drinks), Lexus cars, vintage motor cars, motorcycles, a tea garden, a dog show by Paws, a dog show by the EMPD K9- unit, a show by a Volkspele group, an open stage where local people will perform, for example, Nadia Nolan, Nadia Vorster and revue soloists.
The very popular “House of Horrors” (spookhuis) will also be an attraction, as well as the tombola table and other games. There will be a strongman demonstration by a SA champion, wrestling (10 professional wrestlers will showcase their talents between 1pm and 3pm), Igeu Kabesa (a featherweight champion in Extreme Fighting Championship will be present), a SANDF exhibition and the SAPS and three local CPFs will also be present.
Epworth Children’s Village is going to have a fund-raising bookstall and the LamDel Residents Association will also have a stall.
Senior citizens (70 years and older) can relax in the shaded tea garden with a free cup of coffee or tea and something sweet to eat.
The Germiston community is invited to come and take part in the fun and get to know the people in the city.
There is a nominal entrance fee for parking and entrance.
