Police arrest man for stealing wine

A man is set to face a charge of shoplifting.

A man was nabbed by the Elsburg SAPS, last Saturday, on a charge of shoplifting.

At about 7.45pm the complainant alleged that he was busy with customers in his shop when he noticed a man pick up some wine and then walk around the shop.

“He then saw the man leaving the store without paying for the item,” said Const Daphney Phooko, the communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“He approached the man and asked him for his receipt for the wine and the man started to run away.

“He was apprehended and the Elsburg SAPS were called.”

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested and will face a charge of shoplifting in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
