The provincial Trio Crimes and Drug Unit recently received a tip-off about a man keeping unlicensed firearms in Malvern East, Primrose.

The police responded to the call and found a 50-year-old man at the given address.

“The police asked to search the house and found a steel container full of live ammunition, a revolver, pistol and rifle,” said Sgt Styles Maome, the communications officer for the Primrose SAPS.

“When asked for the licence, the suspect could not produce one.”

The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition.
