Elsburg goes down fighting

Elsburg Rugby Club suffered defeat at the boots of Buffels, on Saturday.

It was always going to be a tough match as Elsburg Rugby Club took to the field against Buffels Rugby Club, on Saturday.

The Buffels team are currently leading the Kestrel League.

The team came out fighting on their home grounds, the Elspark Sports Grounds, and the first half saw a closely contested match between the two teams.

They went into the break at half-time with just a point in it – Elsburg with 11 and Buffels with 12.

However, a win was not to be and as the whistle blew for the second half Buffels came out on fire and Elsburg couldn’t fight back.

Although Elsburg had a number of chances to score, they lost the ball time and again, leaving the game wide open for their opponents to monopolise and score.

The full-time whistle blew, leaving Elsburg defeated 11-31.

Pierre Bezuidenhout scored the try for the home team, while Rudie Wessels kicked two penalties.
