Delport residents voice their concerns over crime

Primrose police and members of the EMPD visited the Delport informal settlement to address residents’ concerns over crime in the area.

Residents of Delport informal settlement are gravely concerned about the amount of crime in the informal settlement.

In an effort to address residents’ concerns over an increase in assaults, robberies and domestic violence cases, members of the Primrose police and EMPD recently visited the area.

“The visit offered community members a chance to talk about the ongoing issues,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The visit, led by Primrose Police Station commander Col Albertina Vesi, was joined by Vispol head Lieut-Col Solly Maswanganyi, EMPD head Bob Motshabi and sector manager Sgt Adam Dikhoba.

“All of the day’s speakers shared their own concerns over the rise in crime in the area,” said Maome.

“I promise to conduct operations that will reduce crime in the area and encourage the community to form patrol teams which will work hand-in-hand with the police in stubbing out crime,” said Vesi.
