Impressive debut for Silver Thursday

Varsfontein Stud well represented at National Yearling Sale.

The Varsfontein Stud bred Silver Thursday, purchased for R1.3-million by Form Bloodstock at the 2016 National Yearling Sale, was an impressive winner first time out at the Vaal recently.

Trained by Mike de Kock, the filly came with a late rattle to land a juvenile plate over 1 200m by two- and-a-half lengths at the expense of the well regarded Australian-bred favourite Fish River.

Silver Thursday is owned by Mauritzfontein, Maine Chance Farms and Coolmore’s Mrs John Magnier –and her connections are expected to once again be in attendance at next month’s National Yearling Sale.

A daughter of current leading SA sire Silvano, Silver Thursday, the first winner for Captain Al’s Listed Syringa Handicap winner Secret Obsession, has a Dynasty half-brother (Lot 161) on offer at the 2017 National Yearling Sale.

Silver Thursday’s champion sire Silvano is well represented at the National Yearling Sale, with his 19 strong draft including yearlings out of such well performed mares as Express Queen, Garland, Halfway To Heaven and champion Princess Victoria , as well as siblings to such top class performers as Astro News, Comtesse DuboisDarling Moon, Hot Ticket, and Wavin’ Flag.
