Man allegedly threatens officer

Man faces charges of pointing a firearm and intimidation after allegedly attempting to steal officer’s service pistol.

A 28-year-old man was arrested recently in the Mnisi Section of Katlehong for pointing a firearm and intimidation.

Katlehong police were called to the scene of an alleged robbery.

“It is reported that the suspect was attempting to steal a female police officer’s service firearm at gunpoint, but he was unsuccessful,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.

Police were able to corner the accused after he attempted to flee on foot and he was arrested.

They seized the firearm used in the attempted robbery, which officers discovered was a toy gun.

He was held at the Katlehong Police Station, pending his appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
